Tomorrow is another one of those games where we should really pick up 3 points, but in this division you just never know. Yeovil sit bottom of the League One table; the Sky Blues just 5 points above them in 18th. The home side will be in a fairly confident mood after picking up a point against Preston at Deepdale on Tuesday night, whereas the mood won’t be as upbeat in the City camp after last weekends capitulation at Gillingham.
My last trip to Huish Park ended in a 1-1 draw, it was our first game in league one and apart from Cody McDonald’s goal, all I can remember is going home with one side of my face sunburnt and looking like a muppet! Although that seemed like a positive point back then, I go this time wanting 3 points and nothing else… Anything less is not good enough! We’re in an awful situation at the minute where we look very likely to be engaged in another relegation battle, so this is another real six-pointer.
City have signed Jamie Jones prior to the game on an emergency loan, which is not a bad signing from what I saw of him at Orient but it’s another loan… Again, summing up our club, having to do with a ‘keeper on loan from League One rivals Preston, and he was their third choice. This is in no way a dig at Jones, I think he’s a good stopper at this level, but it’s just depressing that we can’t spend a bit of cash! This brings me on to another loan player, Gary Madine. The loan striker will play his last game for the club unless we somehow manage to sign him on a permanent deal as his loan expires before the home tie with Rochdale…
This inevitable loss of Madine has seemingly gave way to a Marcus Tudgay return, despite Pressley stating two weeks ago that he was “free to leave.” I do like Tudgay, I believe in the right system he could do well here, but he will have to start scoring regularly to please the Sky Blue faithful. I would like to see him get some game time tomorrow (you never know, he might score the winner). City will no doubt be boosted by the return of Reda Johnson as well, which will hopefully make a difference and add aerial threat to our side; and after all, our record without him in the side is poor – he does make a difference.
I just pray to God we get 3 points tomorrow as they are desperately needed… A loss and I think that’s the end of the line for Pressley in many fans eyes. Please let my journey home tomorrow be a more pleasant one than last weekend, we are capable of a win tomorrow, let’s prove it!
