There’s no doubting tonight’s game versus the Iron is the biggest game of our season. A defeat would see us slip in to the bottom four and further in to oblivion; a position we should not be in! After a loss at Deepdale on Saturday, we have an opportunity to take a step forward tonight and claim three vital points which would move us potentially up to the dizzy heights of 18th – it’s not great, but it’s further away from relegation.
Obviously the game won’t just be a game we want to win, the away side will also be up for the game, nobody more so than Mark Robins, Jordan Clarke and Gary McSheffrey. Those three will all be extra hungry to leave the Ricoh having proven any doubters wrong, and I just hope our lads send them home empty handed, after all, we need the points more than them!
After being unlucky not to salvage a point at the weekend after Fleck’s audacious effort, we’ve got to take confidence in to tonight and hopefully transfer the last 10 minutes from Saturday (in which we dominated) in to 90 minutes tonight. It will be interesting to see how Pressley will line up tonight, especially with our already tight squad being stretched to the limits with a plague of injuries at the minute. I am hopeful that Odelusi will be fit again after he lit the Ricoh up on his debut, and I’d also like to see more of Luke Williams who has a lot more to offer than he showed at Preston. Blair Turgott could also be involved, and he’s a lad I’m interested in seeing… West Ham fans seem gutted about losing him, so he fills me with some expectation.
Anyway, I’m off to the Ricoh now filled with nerves and desperation… It’s 3 points or nothing lads, Pressley is walking a very thin tightrope if we don’t pick up a win, and I wouldn’t be surprised to see him being relieved of his duties.
